Crisis and redistribution of world power
The main aim of this essay is to examine the current state and short-term influence of world politics, as well as observing a central aspect, namely the political scope of the economic-financial crisis of 2008-2012, and some main trends which, above and beyond the crisis and looking toward the future, can be viewed as salient elements on the contemporary stage. It is worth noting that this article attempts to introduce an examination of the aforementioned areas from the standpoint of international relations, and through a critical perspective. Likewise, it is important to point out that the author seeks to combine a historical view and a comparative interpretation, at the same time as attempting to analyse both the structural dynamics and the situational contingencies. Furthermore, the essay highlights the complexity of the global milieu; in this respect, the author does not attempt to present any specific suggestions as to how to manage the current situation.
Keywords: world politics, economic crisis, multipolarity, international order.
