Josep Ripoll contributes elements of reflection on the contribution of globalisation in reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Focusing on the influence of globalisation on domestic economic growth and the influence of this growth on the MDGs, he considers that the effectiveness of globalisation in eradicating poverty must fulfil two conditions. On the one hand, the need to promote a shared will within the international community, in the contract of guaranty of the MDGs and, on the other hand, the establishment of new rules of the game that respond to the demands of the developing countries in the field of trade and finance, given the low degree of coincidence between the objectives that rule the international trade and finance institutions and the objectives established in the year 2000.
