«Immigration and asylum, at the center of the political arena». Anuario CIDOB de la Inmigración 2018

Along with the traditional analysis of the state and evolution of immigration in Spain, the 2018 issue of the Anuario CIDOB de la Inmigración seeks to highlight the establishment of immigration and asylum at the centre of the political arena in Europe and the United States. Among other issues, this has led to a negative hyperpoliticisation of the phenomenon in both regions, which are among those that receive the highest levels of immigration in the world, and where far-right and populist forces – for whom rejecting immigration is their main rallying call – continue to enjoy growing support. This year's issue of the Anuario also reflects on issues as important as the situation of young people of foreign origin (second generations) and the effect of the economic crisis on the integration of immigrants in Spain.
