The SAHWA project releases its survey dataset with answers of nearly 10.000 young people from Arab Mediterranean countries

The SAHWA project has released the dataset of its Youth Survey, which contains the opinion of 9,860 young people from five Arab Mediterranean countries on issues related to education, employment and social inclusion, political engagement, culture and values, gender, migration and international mobility, and public policies and international cooperation. The data were collected through fate-to-face interviews with young people aged 15 to 29 from the five countries covered by the study – Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, and Tunisia – in 2015 and 2016. 

SAHWA (Researching Arab Mediterranean Youth. Towards a New Social Contract) was a European Commission-funded FP-7 research project running from 2014 to 2017. It aimed to research youth prospects and perspectives in a context of multiple social, economic, and political transitions in the aftermath of the Arab Spring. The project thus intended to fill a gap in the knowledge of Arab youth conditions, prospects and perceptions. 

SAHWA brought together fifteen partners from European and Arab countries under the coordination of CIDOB, which developed the survey with the assistance of the Barcelona-based Research and Expertise Centre for Survey Methodology at Pompeu Fabra University (RECSM-UPF).
