CIDOB and ECFR with the support of the Europe for Citizens programme
The aim of the workshop, six years after the Arab protests, is to analyse the current political and security situation in countries such as Tunisia and Algeria, as well as in the Sahel, and the implications it has for Europe. We will discuss, among other issues, the political uncertainty in Algeria, the state of the transition in Tunisia and the nature of the transnational terrorist threat, and what answers can be given by Europe, in these times of introspection and hesitation. The session will be introduced by Anthony Dworkin, the author of Europe’s new counter-terror wars, and Andrew Lebovich, expert in the Maghreb region in the ECFR’s team. Hamza Meddeb, ECFR visiting fellow and researcher of the MENARA project, led by CIDOB, will also intervene.
