The European Union likes to think of itself as a global leader in “soft” foreign policy domains such as climate, migrations, disinformation and humanitarian aid. In this new edition of CIDOB’s cycle of conferences “What is going on in the world?”, Carme Colomina, Oriol Costa, Blanca Garcés, Matteo Garavoglia and Pol Morillas, will examine the public narratives that the EU and its member states promote around and about these policy areas. As the global community will keep struggling for many years to come with the enormous challenges posed by climate change, international migrations, disinformation, and humanitarian crises, the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB), in collaboration with experts from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Oxford, will offer insights on how the European Union frames its action in these domains and which trends we might see emerging in the future.
