Location:

Organized by:

CIDOB with the support of the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV) of the European Commission project

Artificial Intelligence has penetrated in our societies increasingly making decisions about our daily lives. Algorithmic decision-making systems deployed in public administration are already automating governmental tasks or identifying profiles, challenging the legitimacy and even rationality of institutional decisions in a society governed by new centers of power.

The future of technology is intertwined with the future of democracy. Machine learning technologies and AI have raised complex questions about the trade-offs between freedom of expression, privacy, citizens safety, and even the nature of truth and authenticity.

This experts seminar wants to promote analysis and discussion on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on governance and citizens’ rights, but also explore how to ensure a democratic AI system and the protection of equality and human rights in the digital sphere.
