Hybrid War & Propaganda. From Instigating War in Ukraine to Active Measures in the European Union?
Yevhen Fedchenko, co-founder of Stopfake.org, will analyse the role of information, misinformation and propaganda in the hybrid war strategy carried out by Russia in Ukraine and, increasingly, in other conflict zones. Stopfake.org is a community of journalists, programmers, translators and marketing specialists that was launched in March 2014. The main purpose of Stopfake’s work is to check facts, verify information, and refute verifiable disinformation about events in Ukraine covered in the media.

Yevhen Fedchenko, Ph.D, co-founder of fact-checking website StopFake.org, is Director of the Mohyla School of Journalism at National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Kyiv, Ukraine. He spent almost 20 years with media industry, covering international stories for different types of media. He was co-founder of Digital Future of Journalism program for journalists and Digital Media for Universities Internet journalism curriculum development program. He teaches courses in International news and factual programming. His main interests are digital journalism and innovations, journalism education in transitional societies, news standards, propaganda and weaponisation of information, coverage of international politics in media. He contributed his comments to RFE/RL, BBC, NPR, Public Radio International, Radio Canada International, CBC, Mashable, SKY etc. In 2010-2011 Yevhen Fedchenko was Fulbright visiting professor at USC Annenberg (Los Angeles, USA). In 2007 he co-founded the double-degree PhD program in Mass Comms with UAB.
